It provides a platform for creative writers and artists from all ages who are involved in research to learn publication about the publication process and to become a published author. Young adults, at age between 13 and 18, are highly encouraged to submit their work, since Terra Science and Education has a mission to support K-12 students and educators.
IJCA is a peer-reviewed by university faculty members, artists, and professional writers. Four issues are published each year with selections from a variety of work in the areas of poetry, prose, and arts (photography and cartoons).

Paul Kindlon’s journey through life has been marked by 7 years as a stage actor in Chicago and 25 years as a journalist and then college professor. Now residing in Buffalo, N.Y. he has over 100 publications to his credit. These include topical essays, drama, flash fiction, poetry, aphorisms, and a memoir. He has been a regular contributor to Mystery Tribune for the past 4 years and is a board member of the Hudson Valley Writers Guild.
Dr. Damkaci is the founder and the executive of Terra Science and Education. He is an experienced Professor of Organic Chemistry with a demonstrated leadership experience in STEM teaching, program development, grant writing, recruitment, STEM outreach, and management. He is a strong leadership professional with an Executive Leadership Certificate on Non-profit management from Harvard University School of Business, Certificate on Higher Education Administration from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and a Certificate focused on Public Diplomacy, Leadership, and Management from Syracuse University School of Maxwell. Dr. Damkaci has received several recognitions for his service, teaching, research as well as cultural activities, and these recognitions include SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service, Oswego President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, Oswego President’s Award for Excellence in Research, Oswego Provost’s Award for Excellence in Mentorship, and International Educator Award from International Center of Syracuse.
Ryan Smith supports regional science fairs, summer STEM camps, and other K-12 Terra initiatives. Before becoming a team member at Terra, Ryan worked as a long-term substitute teacher, teaching both at the middle school and high school levels. Ryan received both his B.Sc. in Biochemistry and M.Sc. in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Oswego. While attending there, he earned an outstanding leadership award and an outstanding teaching assistant award. Ryan also was a volunteer with the Hall Newman Center as both a faith formation teacher and the Retreat Coordinator, serving many parishes in the Syracuse dioceses.
Mary Wood is the primary contact for Terra Regional STEM fairs and for its affiliates, Terra Fair Fellowships, and MakerHallsSM program showing at schools. She is part of the management team at conferences, grants, and annual Genius Olympiad. An educator and nonprofit director with decades of experience in grassroots organizing, STEM advocacy, and science and engineering fair development, Mary Eileen has been the bridge in providing funding and educational support to our Terra Fairs network of regional science and engineering fairs. She has extensive prior experience in K-12 teaching, outreach activities for K-12 schools in CNY region, non-profit management focusing on STEM engagement and regional STEM fair development.
Karen Valentino is the primary contact for operation (i.e., Finance, Human Resources, etc.) and marketing inquiries as well as those related to the grant, scholarship, and fellowship programs. She is part of the management team at our regional science fairs, conferences, grants, and annual Genius Olympiad. She has more than twenty years of higher education experience in college teaching and management of programs committed to student learning and success. She was Assistant Provost for Special Projects at SUNY Oswego and directed major NSF and DoE grants to support success of diverse transfer students and to implement special programs to increase retention rates in STEM programs. As Visiting Assistant Professor of Geology, Karen instructed courses in natural hazards, geology and environmental science at SUNY Oswego and Jefferson Community College. She holds a M.S. in Material Science and Engineering from Virginia Tech and a B.S. in Geology from Temple University.
Asli Kinsizer works with Terra Journals as a graphic designer and has 25+ years of teaching at K-12 and college level amd professional fine arts and graphic design experience. She has MA degrees in both art teaching and graphic design. As an artist, she view her role as being ‘one of the exposers of the situation’, providing a voice for the oppressed, and offering an alternative that inspires change. Kinsizer's Projects has been shown in Washington DC, Rochester, and New York.

Frederick Luis Aldama, aka Professor Latinx, is the Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities at the University of Texas, Austin, where he is also founder and director of the Latinx Pop Lab. He is an award-winning author, co-author, editor, and coeditor of over 40 books as well as editor and coeditor of 9 academic press book series. He is author of comics, graphic novels, and fiction, as well as children’s books, including The Adventures of Chupacabra Charlie (published in English and Spanish) and Con Papá / With Papá. He is co-creator of the award-winning animation short, Carlitos Chupacabra as well as producer and co-creator of the first documentary film on Latinx comics, Latinx Superheroes in Mainstream Comics. In 2022 he was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters, the Ohio State University's Office of Diversity and Inclusion Hall of Fame, and as board of directors for The Academy of American Poets.
Rhonda Rosenheck is a poet and humorist living in New York’s Capital Region. Her publications include The Five Books of Limericks: a Chapter-by-Chapter Re-telling of Torah; Sin No More! A Biblical Sea Shanty, Looking: Out, Up, In and Under Rocks and Yiddische Yoga: OYsanas for Every Generation. Rhonda’s work has appeared in Heirlock and Kings River Life magazines, Wingless Dreamer and Paragon Press journals, and in the anthology, A Book of Sonnets (2020). Her poem MakerSpace was performed in Write Out Loud at the Glimmer Globe Theater in Cooperstown, NY. Rhonda recently finished second in a local poetry-slam and, in June 2023, will be the resident poet at the Fish Factory Arts Centre in Iceland. Among her works-in-progress are a collection of crime poems, a second chapbook, a children’s picture book and a fresh translation of Genesis. Faith Swingle Green was born in a small town in upstate New York. She retired after 40 years as a special education teacher. During her teaching career, Faith was an English/Language Arts consultant in grades 9-12, and the faculty advisor for the literary magazine ‘Visions’ for seven years. She facilitated contests for cover art, and the group designed and printed a cookbook as a fundraising activity. Faith published her first collection of poems, ‘My Prophetic Soul and other poems’ in 1992. Her work was published in ‘Silhouette’, the Virginia Tech literary magazine, and ‘Trolley’, the SUNY Albany online newsletter, and in an anthology ‘With Pen in Hand’. Most recently she had a poetry pocketbook ‘Seasons of the Heart’ published by Local Gems Press. She is working on her memoir and a book about caring for someone with Alzheimer’s hoping to help other caretakers cope with a similar situation. She is also working on a mystery novel. Faith regularly attends workshops and conferences. She is a long- standing member and recent past president of the Hudson Valley Writers Guild. Faith is a lifelong learner.
Lynn Rossini studied professional photography at the Hallmark Institute of Photography from September 2000 - June 2001. Afterward, she worked as a wedding photographer. Her artistic work has been featured at outdoor craft festivals and has been chosen for show in juried competitions at the Fulton Street Art Gallery in Troy, N.Y. In 2004, Lynn designed ads for Tri City business using photography and print which were shown on screen at the Spectrum Theater, located in Albany, NY. Some of her photography work is featured on the Albany Jazz.com website. Photography has remained a deep passion for Lynn throughout her life.
Mila is a portrait and headshot photographer based in Upstate New York. Born in Moscow, she specialized in art history and journalism in school and studied painting with various artists. Mila has called the United States home since 1989 and began her formal study of photography at the International Center of Photography in New York in 2001.Her influences include Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, Yousuf Karsh, Irving Penn, Peter Lindberg, and most importantly, classical painters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Botticelli, Repin, Surikov, John Singer Sargent, and many others.
